Winston-Salem Transportation
Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) is a regional airport. Car Rentals at the airport include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, National, and Thrifty. Taxis from the airport to downtown Winston-Salem cost $32 and $22, and to downtown Greensboro, they cost $18 and $15, respectively. The Shuttle by PTI Airport Transportation (877-796-5466), costs about $30 to downtown Winston-Salem and $22 to downtown Greensboro.
Winston-Salem Connector provides a shuttle service between downtown Winston-Salem and Greensboro Gaylon Transportation Center. Pre-COVID there was a Trolley-bus circulating in central Winston-Salem. Free parking is available in spaces marked for Winston-Salem Amtrak Connector customers in the One West Fourth Street parking deck at Liberty and West Fourth streets. The entrance is on Liberty Street.
The Winston-Salem & Greensboro Freeway Network is expanding to accommodate population growth in the Piedmont Triad Metro Area. The freeways are narrow and can be clogged with Rush-Hour traffic. But congestion is not at the scale of Charlotte. LOcals use these freeway names:
