United Nation of Islam
DESCRIPTION: The United Nation of Islam is no relation to Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam; here the focus of this place of worship seems to be self-help leadership in the community bent on creating a new positive image. A diner, renovated gas station, bakery, colonic center and supermarket, all with a conspicuous lack of security bars and all served by bowtie-clad gentlemen and equally polite ladies. Regardless of one’s religious persuasion or absence thereof, you have to admire what has been accomplished here.
