Visiting Luxury Resorts
Since they were built as well-funded ventures in the 1980s, many have spectacular architecture seen from the ground and air, particularly the all-inclusive resorts. They provide everything a guest could need within its boundaries. Resort themes vary. Some orient towards couples, others to families. Then others orient toward golfing, watersports, and luxury shopping. There is something for every price range and desired level of amenities. Casual walks along the beach to the next resort, while stopping for a sandwich and tropical drinks for adults, and non-alcoholic beverages for kids can easily consume a fun day. Consider visiting Cocotal Golf & Country Club, Iberostate Bavaro Golf Club, Punta Blanca Golf & Beach Resort, Puntacana Resort & Club – Corales, Hacienda and La Cana courses, Barcelo Bavaro Golf Course, La Cana Golf Club Punta Cana Resort, and Punta Espada Golf Club.

Plaza Bávaro Shopping
Many of the prices at this plaza are inflated for tourists. It’s best to haggle over the price tag if you really want the item. Locals also shop here, so you can get a sense of where everyday Dominicans do their shopping. The downside is that many visitors to Punta Cana feel that the vendors and store owners at Plaza Bavaro can be too pushy in trying to convince you to buy something. A pleasant, but firm “No” answer and casual walk away will solve that. But keep in mind that vendors only do it to earn an honest living.

Casa de Juan Ponce de Leon
It will give you a taste of 500-year-old history. It is the family home and museum of 15th Century European explorer Ponce de Leon, known for his Conquistador adventures in Florida and as a Dominican governor. The home is a tribute to his life and work. He and his family lived here in the early 1500s during Spanish rule over the island.
