DESCRIPTION: 26,000 square foot facility opened in 2004, the museum is designed around the themes of storytelling and children’s books targeting ages birth through 10; the First Floor includes Amazing Library, Jack and the Beanstalk, Build it!, Surprise Garden; the Second Floor contains The Enchanted Forest, Animal Alphabet Krispy Kreme Doughnut Factory, Food Lion Supermarket and Birthday Party Rooms among its many exhibits, the Black Inventors exhibit is also special

SciWorks
DESCRIPTION: opened in 1965 and many enhancements since, this 25,000 square foot venue has blossomed to become a 119-seat Planetarium, 5-acre outdoor Environmental Park with picnic areas and a 143-seat auditorium; permanent exhibits include: Foucault Pendulum, PhysicsWorks, SoundWorks, HealthWorks,  BioWorks and KidsWorks. The Environmental Park includes habitats for river otter, deer and waterfowl; ADA accessible

Natural Science Center of Greensboro

Wet 'n Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park
DESCRIPTION: One of the top water parks in the nation offers more than 3 million gallons of water; Thunder Bay, one of only four tsunami (giant wave) pools in the country, makes massive, perfect waves; enclosed slides, drop slides, tube rides and cable glides provide thrills for all ages and sizes; two children's areas and a drifting Lazee River complete the fun

Greensboro Coliseum Complex
DESCRIPTION: opened in 1959 and expanded many times, this 23,000-seat complex includes a 2,400-seat War Memorial Auditorium, 300-seat Odeon Theatre, and a 167,000-square foot Special Events Center that collectively hosts conventions, concerts, family shows, arts and entertainment shows, professional and college sports that attract patrons from the Greensboro & Winston-Salem metro area

North Carolina Zoo

DESCRIPTION: Opened in 1976 with 1,371 acres, the zoo features 1100 animals from more than 250 species primarily representing Africa and North America; discover more than 1,100 animals and 40,000 plants along five miles of shaded pathways; throughout the 1980s, Africa exhibits opened and in 1984 the zoo received accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums; from 1993-96, North America exhibits completed, showcasing the animals and habitats of the Sonora Desert; recently, the Zoo acquired adjacent land to bring the total to over 2,000 acres to form
the largest natural-habitat zoo in the world; it has plans for an Asia exhibit, convention center and hotel in the near future
